C Walk

Sedbergh  ‘C’ walk – 4.5 miles circular route with an option to extend by a further 1.5 miles. Leaders Colin and Dez, assisted by Julia, with an option for a shorter D walk.

The 4.5 mile is along the river Rawthey to the hamlet of Brigflatts where a grade 1 Quaker meeting house, gardens and burial grounds is located. Built in 1674 it is purportedly the oldest in England. (toilet facilities available when meeting house is open).

Return is via fields to Sedbergh town where walkers can choose to extend the walk by a further 1.5 miles passing Castlehaw Motte and Bailey Castle used as an air raid lookout in World War II and a short climb through woods to a waterfall.

Sedburgh has shops, cafes and pubs for those not wishing to extend the walk.

The main walk, mostly on the flat is stile free but quite a few kissing gates to navigate. Paths can be narrow in places and there is a 10 minute road section of walk. Please note there is livestock in the fields.
