Approx. 7 miles, mostly flat, featuring the Old railway path, Castlerigg Stone Circle, Spring Woods and Castlehead Woods, Keswick. Led by Jane & Jo
D walkers can take the old railway path route as suits.
This is a circular walk taking in the old railway path, stone circle and back to Keswick via Spring Woods and Castlehead Woods.
Starting at the leisure centre the walk takes us along the old railway line as far as Brundholme. We leave the track passing under the A66, there is a short uphill road and path to reach the stone circle for lunch or a break.

The stone circle consists of 38 standing stones, some standing 3 meters in height and is one of Britain’s earliest stone circles dating back 5,000 years.

To return to Keswick we head south through fields or a lane to Castlerigg farm. Then we follow a path above a stream and through Springs wood then Castlehead wood to the lake.
D walkers can start the walk with the C walkers in Keswick and continue along the railway path as suits, which is a flat path going to Threlkeld (5km distance).
